BANDHU CORNEA KENDRA immerge as a voluntary organization to make some ripples on the surface of the society but to go beneath the fathom deep of our society, to help the distressed in need. Discrimination loom large in the environ of our society. In this perspective the main aims of the society will be to identify the ills of the society and target these ills in the light of awareness among the general mass of public. In the process the society will spread boundless and dissent fathomless deep into the society to get in touch of the causes of ills and menace on the society and take appropriate measures through several means. The main object of the society would be to lessen, if not to eradicate completely, the social ills and to come forward with purposeful assistance within its reach and capacity at the side of the needy.

The objects for which Bandhu Cornea Kendra is established are :-

  • To devote itself to the task of prevention of blindness and in consonance therewith.
  • To establish an EYE BANK to secure donation of eyes (corneas) from its members as also from members of the public on death and to arrange for grafting of corneas in the eyes of blind of corneal defect to enable them to regain eye sight.
  • To create, through persistent campaigns awareness and consciousness in the minds of the public about the necessity and importance of donating eyes on death for the benefit of blind persons who are fit for grafting of corneas to regain eyesight.
  • To establish a diagnostic center and clinic with equipments, gadgets and facilities for investigation and medical as well as surgical treatment of eye diseases both with an out-patient department and an in-patient department.
  • To start and run a diagnostic center and clinic with equipments and facilities for investigation and treatment free of cost as many other diseases as are possible.
  • To organize and carry on general welfare activities for the benefit of the public in general and poverty-stricken people in particular.
  • To open and run as many branches of Bandhu Cornea Kendra as may deem necessary in such areas as are suitable for the above purposes.
  • To affiliate to Bandhu Cornea Kendra other similar organization(s expressing their desire to act in accordance with the objects of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To carry on publicity, campaign etc. through newspaper(s), radio, television, films, video, cable TV etc. and to print and publish books, periodicals, papers, advertisement(s), posters, leaflets and by other medias as are suitable to farther the objects of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To collect funds by way of gifts, donations, and subscription for the purposes of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To receive and acquire gifts, lease, fronts, bequests, privileges, movable and immovable properties, appliances, instruments, medicines etc. necessary for furtherance of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To purchase furniture, equipments, medicines etc. And to construct, maintain, develop and alter any land, buildings, houses etc. necessary for the purpose of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To organize various cultural programmes, seminars, lectures, debates etc.
  • To propagate to pledge donation of bodies after death in the hands of medical sciences for research, education and therapeutic uses in particular and other Science & Technology Programmes promotion in general.
  • To do all such acts, deeds, matters and things as may be deemed by the Executive Committee to be conducive to the foregoing objects of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To borrow, for the purpose of and in furtherance of the objects of Bandhu Cornea Kendra, money from banks on overdraft or loan accounts with or without security and also from other sources.
  • Bandhu Cornea Kendra may carry out (1) the integrated child development project (2) to fight out and resist onslaught of AIDS (3) the suitable programmes in favour of pollution control, if asked for, by suitable agency/agencies.
  • To carry out anti-drug programmes i.e., awareness building programme, campaigning against drug-abuse and building awareness especially among the youth and within the mass of public in particular, to organize detoxification centers and counseling centers.
  • To build up suitable awareness against the superstition against the leprosy, T.T. etc. and help rehabilitate the needy persons in the mainstream of Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To organize jointly or severally the cultural or such other programmes against dowry system, atrocities on women and in favour of women’s right envisaged in The Constitution of India.
  • To assist, cooperate and organize in setting up of training centers for women and child to help them economically and socially self-reliant and in the process to try to form cooperatives with the successful trainees.
  • To help in getting right place of the disabled, especially of mentally retarded persons suitable steps may be taken to rehabilitate them, to organize programmes for supplying tools and implements to the orthopedically handicapped and organize schools and training centers for blind and mentally retarded persons. Physically handicapped may be given proper training on various trades to help them become self reliant in Bandhu Cornea Kendra.
  • To organize and mobilize street children through literacy programme to draw them in the mainstream of the Society. In the process they should also be given training on health consciousness and they may be given the knowledge of cultural heritage towards the path of national integration and communal harmony.
  • Bandhu Cornea Kendra may undertake Literacy, Adult Education and Non-Formal Education programme etc. to develop citizens of Indian mentally towards achieving national integration and communal harmony and help the general mass of people to raise to the occasion against poverty, social menaces, in discriminations within the masses etc.

What we are and what we have done :

1. 142 Awareness camps, seminars, meetings, workshops have been organized and these are arranged regularly. And participated in five such programmes all over the country.

2. Pledge-cards for Eye donation and Body donation are being accepted.

3. Donor cards have been issued to the donors and the up to date list of such donors have been published.

4. Free Eye testing camps for the school students are being organized regularly.

5.  Health-cards have been issued free of cost.

6. ‘Aloke Yatras’ have been held.

7. 13 National Fortnight on Eye Donation have been observed.

8.  Lists of voluntary Blood Donors have been published for ready reference.

9.  Actively participated in various programmers on pollution control.

10.  Our volunteers make all out effort to convince the kin of the deceased souls who have no pledge, to donate Eyes / Corpse for the noble cause.
